District Report Card Highlights: 

All high schools met AYP(adequate yearly progress) in reading and math

Our performance index score increased 3.3 points over the past 2years.

73% of our schools are rated Continous Improvement or higher

The district met 8 state indicators and 41% (or 24 schools) met more indicators than in 2006. 

No Akron Public school is in Academic Emergency!

East Cluster Highlights

East High earned AYP
Grade 4 reading scores rose 52% at Mason
Fourth Grade math scores at Barber are up106% since 2005.
Over the last 2 years, Goodyear increased sixth grade math scores by 63%
Clusterwide, 3 out of 4 schools show significant improvement in fifth grade
reading since 2005.
Buchtel Cluster Highlights

Buchtel earned AYP
Portage Path's building rating rose to Continous Improvement
Clusterwide, reading scores are up 350%
Stewart's third grade math scores are up 183%
Ellet Cluster Highlights

Ellet earned AYP
The building rating at Hatton rose from Effective to Excellent
Ellet earned an Excellent building rating for the second year in a row.
Third grade math scores at Betty Jane are up 32 % since 2005.
Students at Windemere scored an impressive 88% on fifth grade reading test.
Firestone Cluster Highlights

Firestone earned AYP
King rose from Effective to Excellent
Firestone and Miller South both earned an Excellent rating for the second year in a row.
Third grade math scores are up 28% at Case to 90%
Students at King scored an impressive 98% on third grade math, up 34%

Garfield Cluster Highlights

Garfield earned AYP
Third grade math scores are up 185%
This year, 6 out of 7 schools in the Garfield cluster showed significant improvement in fifth grade readingand third grade math.
The building rating at McEbright rose from Academic Watch to Continous Improvement.

 

Kenmore Cluster Highlights

The building rating at Smith rose from Continous Improvement to Effective
Clusteir wide, reading scores are up 165%
Students at Rimer scored an impressive 96% on forth grade writing test and 95% on third grade reading test.

 
North Cluster Highlights

North earned AYP
Cluster wide, math scores are up 81%
Students, at Forest Hill scored an impressive 96% on fourth grade math test.
The attendance rate at Leggett rose to 94% up from 92% in 2005.
